Nissan LEAF Disqualified from Backwards Hill Climb

There's a race for just about anything these days, much like the backwards running events that are hosted in Britain and Italy. You may have already heard of those but I doubt you ever heard of a backwards car race. It just so happens that they also exist. Always good thing to know in case you need to drop some useless trivia/facts at a cocktail party.

The race we're speaking of is?

The Nissan Leaf - Could it Power Homes?

Following the March 11 earthquake and tsunami, Nissan has experienced first-hand the impediment sweeping power outages have on restoring full production at their facilities. This has made the company more empathetic toward the reconstruction efforts of people with less resources and financial means. As such, the second-largest Japanese automaker is working to enable LEAF electric vehicle (EV) owners to use the car to power homes during long-term outages and blackouts.

The Nissan LEAF battery can store up to 24 kWh of energy, according to Hideaki Watanabe, Global Head of Zero Emission Vehicles, Nissan. That's enough to power an American…

Many people and companies are doing their part to help those in need, including Nissan. The Japanese automaker just recently promised $115,000 in relief aid to the American Red Cross to help them provide food, clothing, and shelter for storm. Now Nissan is stepping up to the plate once again. Nissan Takes Victor's Spoils at 1000 KMS of Spa

What can we say... Nissan's a real crowd pleaser these days. And, we're not talking about sales figures. Though, if you've been reading the news, you know they've been pretty impressive and in certain instances record-breaking. Rather, we're talking about the track!

The Nissan-powered TDS Racing Oreca recently won the 1000 kms of Spa. Nissan power also took second place at the Boutsen Energy Racing Oreca. Not to mention, the Signatech Nissan team driven by Nissan's GT academy graduate, Lucas Ordonez and his teammates Franck Mailleux and Soheil Ayari, took fifth place. And that…

The New York Times featured the efforts put together by Nissan in the wake of the devastating earthquake and tsunami, donating pure electric EV vehicles that would work the best to help relief efforts.  Immediately after the catastrophe, power was restored significantly quicker than fuel was available, making the donated vehicles uniquely qualified to offer assistance.

"There was almost no gas at the time, so I was extremely thankful when I heard about the offer," said Tetsuo Ishii, a division chief in the environmental department in Sendai, which also got four Nissan Leaf electric cars. "If we hadn't received the cars, it would have been very difficult to do what we needed to."

Mr. Ishii and other officials in Sendai assigned the cars strategically. Two were used to?

2011 Nissan Juke, Weird Begets Sales

The all new Nissan Juke is one odd looking automobile. Is it a coupe? A crossover? Way too small to be a SUV, but isn't that what an SUV is supposed to look like? You can't identify the Juke with one word, but what you can rely on is sales. Look down your block, we bet you'll see an all new 2011 Nissan Juke somewhere.

Nissan calls the Juke a "Sport Cross," mating a sports sedan's performance with the utility of a SUV. Still not sure what they mean? Head over to Connell Nissan, 2850 Harbor…
