Nissan Launches the LEAF EV Across the Country
The Nissan LEAF has been available in California for some time now, but other select markets around the country have been patiently waiting for its arrival. But, they don't have to wait anymore. As of March 1, Nissan became the first automaker to release their EV technology in every state in the country.
The automaker first released the LEAF in select markets late in 2010, and rolled out its launch through 2011. But it soon became clear that a global release was imminent, according to Brian Carolin, Senior VP of Sales & Marketing, NNA. He says, "There is no longer any doubt that a 100-percent electric, zero-emissions vehicle fulfills the needs and desires of drivers from around the globe. Nationwide availability of the Nissan LEAF means that now, anyone in the country can opt for a transportation solution that does not harm the environment, provides a pathway to energy independence, and doesn't use a single drop of gas."1
Already, the 2,200 people that reserved their LEAF in states like Kentucky and Michigan have received e-mails from Nissan informing them that it's time to place their orders. Unlike any other new Nissan, you have to first reserve your LEAF at www.nissanusa.com. After that, a representative from Nissan will contact you to arrange an at-home charging assessment, assist with a charging-station installation, and connect you with a local dealership to place your order. It may seem like a long way, but it's more than worth it, considering that you won't spend a dime on gasoline after you drive away in your new EV!
So, what do you think? Are you ready to add your name to the list of people who have driven LEAF EVs more than 30 million miles since they first launched? Or maybe you aren't so sure just yet?
