Following the March 11 earthquake and tsunami, Nissan has experienced first-hand the impediment sweeping power outages have on restoring full production at their facilities. This has made the company more empathetic toward the reconstruction efforts of people with less resources and financial means. As such, the second-largest Japanese automaker is working to enable LEAF electric vehicle (EV) owners to use the car to power homes during long-term outages and blackouts.
