The Nissan Leaf - Could it Power Homes?

Following the March 11 earthquake and tsunami, Nissan has experienced first-hand the impediment sweeping power outages have on restoring full production at their facilities. This has made the company more empathetic toward the reconstruction efforts of people with less resources and financial means. As such, the second-largest Japanese automaker is working to enable LEAF electric vehicle (EV) owners to use the car to power homes during long-term outages and blackouts.

As I am sure you have probably heard, there have been ravage storms that have swept through the southeastern U.S. leaving many homeless and injured. Many people and companies are doing their part to help those in need, including Nissan. The Japanese automaker just recently promised $115,000 in relief aid to the American Red Cross to help them provide food, clothing, and shelter for storm.
